NFL Catch Rule: Memory Lane

Perhaps the "catch" that started the NFL controversy happened in the NFC Championship game nearly 18 years ago. Bert Emanuel of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a catch during the late stages of the game that was upon further review... not a catch. Check out the video and decide for yourself.

Emmanuel told Deadspin.com "The best solution, would be for the league to go back to something on the order of the original Bert Emanuel Rule, to something that says when a receiver has both feet or one knee or one butt cheek or whatever on the ground while controlling the ball, he becomes a runner."
